The Computer Society of India Student Branch at KIT’s College of Engineering, Kolhapur organized its annual event – Ebullienza 2017 – An Inter-College State Level Technical Event. Ebullienza 2017 had two main technical subevents – Ignite – a Project Idea Presentation Competition, and Acuity – a Aptitude Competition and non-technical events included Mini Militia-a Gaming Competition and Filmingo/Edito-Filming and Photography competition. The events started with an inauguration ceremony at the beginning where the new CSI SB team for the year 2017-18 was revealed. The inauguration ceremony began with Saraswati Pujan. The event was graced by Chief Guest, Mrs.Ashwini Danigond(Director and CEO,Manorama Infosolutions Pvt.Ltd), the honourable HOD of the Department of CSE, Mr.A.S.Patil, Faculty Coordinators Mrs. Ranjeeta B. Pandhare and Mr. D.D.Mahajan, the chairman of CSI SB, Ms. Pinky Saran, the faculty of the department and all the student coordinators. The chief guest, Mrs.Ashwini Danigond shared her experiences in the research field and encouraged all the students and participants to develop a research attitude in their lives. This started the day’s activities.
Acuity was a Quiz competition which had two levels Novice and Expert, where participants were made to go through 3 rounds of testing – a General Aptitude,Technical Aptitude and a final surprise round which was revealed to solve Logical Statements. In the first round, the participants were supposed to solve general aptitude questions. The ones who scored above threshold were shortlisted. It was conducted in two batches. The second round –Brain Challenge round was an Technical Aptitude – again, the ones who scored above threshold were shortlisted. The final round – Logical thinking was a surprise for the students. They were given logical statements were allowed to solve those statements and arrive at a conclusion. The round was judged by Mr. M.S.Salunke (Asso. Prof, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KITCOEK). On the basis of the judging, Ms. Prajakta Mutkekar(Novice), Mr. Omkar Bhatkande(Expert) were announced the winner and Mr. Ayush Jadhav(Novice), Mr. Omkar Patil(Expert) grabbed the consolation prize.
Under Ignite, the participants could present their ideas for an innovative project which would be beneficial for the society. These could be presented in the form of PowerPoint presentations, Posters, Simulations, Prototypes or Working Models. Various imaginative and technically creative ideas were put forth by the participants who could participate in teams of two. The competition was judged by internal judge – Dr. M.G.Prasad (Department of CSE, KITCOEK) and external judge – Asso. Prof. Sandeep Throat (Department of Computers, RIT, Islampur), who judged them on the basis of their innovation, creativity, presentation and ideas. Passing through a tight scrutiny by the judges, Mr. Prashant Patil and team emerged as the winner while the team of Mr. Yash Hiray and team were the runner ups.
Under Mini Militia, the teams were asked to play a game and depending on the score the wining team was shortlisted for next round and Filmingo/Edito the participants were given theme and they were asked to wonder around and click the pictures or to make a short film and the best team was selected as winner. The judges were Mr. Aditya Patil and Mr. Shreyas Kulkarni and they selected Mr. Prasad Kulkarni and team as winner of Mini Militia and Mr. Atul Patil and team were the winner of Edito /Filmingo.
The event concluded with the valedictory function, where the winners and runner ups were felicitated by the HOD sir – Prof. A.S.Patil. The event saw over 400 students from all the colleges under Maharashtra participating in the competitions.
Even though there were minor technical glitches, the culmination of the efforts of students and the faculty for over a fortnight in hosting Ebullienza 2017 was declared a success. The CSI SB is now much more excited and enthusiastic about hosting more and more events in the future.
